In restorative treatment planning, the length, width and alignment of the teeth are assessed using photographs, models and digital impression records. At the try-in (mock-up) stage, the planned form is tried in the mouth and the consent of the patient is obtained; the application begins after this stage. During planning it is determined which tooth will receive a laminate veneer and which will receive a composite restoration or whitening. Where deemed necessary, an orthodontic assessment or periodontal procedures are also included in the plan. The try-in stage is indicative in nature; results may vary from person to person.
