In a fully edentulous jaw, a fixed prosthesis may be fitted onto implants placed in suitable regions. With designs that do not cover the palate, the aim is to preserve taste and speech function. In some cases, angled placement may allow the application to be carried out without the need for additional bone augmentation; this is determined as a result of radiological assessment. Screw-retained prostheses can be removed and cleaned at review appointments. For daily care, the use of an interdental brush and an oral irrigator is recommended. The number of implants to be placed and the type of prosthesis vary from patient to patient.
