Paediatric dentistry is the specialty field concerned with protecting and treating the health of baby and permanent teeth in children. Fluoride application, fissure sealants, restorations and trauma management fall within this scope. It is recommended that the first dental check-up takes place following the eruption of the first baby tooth and by the age of one at the latest. At appointments, the procedure to be carried out is explained to the child in a way appropriate to their age, and the daily oral care routine to be followed at home is explained to the family.
